ESWA Joins Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security's International Conference on Combining Sex Work Policy with Anti-Trafficking Efforts

On September 25th, the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security organized an international conference focused on sex work policy, the empowerment of sex workers, and aligning efforts to combat human trafficking. The first day was reserved for government officials, while on September 26th, civil society and sex worker-led organizations, including the European Sex Workers' Rights Alliance (ESWA), joined the discussions.

Representatives from Austria, Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg engaged with sex workers, civil society, and local government officials.

We hope that events like this help to advance the understanding that sex workers play a crucial role in anti-trafficking efforts. As experts in their own industry, sex workers are uniquely positioned to identify poor working conditions and recognize signs of exploitation that might go unnoticed by those outside the industry. Their insights are invaluable to creating more effective and humane policies that effectively prevent trafficking.
