On Thursday, 26th of August, information came out that OnlyFans had decided to impose a ban on sexually explicit content on the platform. However, a week later, after facing strong criticism from sex workers, sex workers rights activists and other content creators, OnlyFans suspended the explicit content ban.
ICRSE strongly condemns OnlyFans’ initial decision on imposing a ban on explicit content on the platform. This disturbing and unfair decision caused high levels of stress and uncertainty in the sex workers community. Although the suspension of the explicit content ban can be considered a step in the right direction, there is an urgent need to address the underlying reasons behind the exclusion of sex workers from digital platforms and financial services.

Among other things, ICRSE demands that digital platforms revoke their anti-sex work policies and make public apologies to sex workers’ communities.
