ESWA Convening on Sex Work, Technology and Human Rights: Digital Rights for All!

ESWA Convening on Sex Work, Technology and Human Rights: Digital Rights for All!

Call for participants and session submissions

ESWA is happy to announce the Convening on Sex Work, Technology and Human Rights: Digital Rights for All!

This three-day convening
will take place on 4-6 April 2024 at Talent Garden in Madrid, Spain, and it aims to bring sex workers’ rights and digital rights activists together to exchange, learn and network through various workshops. These workshops will be designed to build the capacity, skills and knowledge of sex workers’ rights activists on critical topics related to sex workers’ digital rights. Throughout the convening, participants will have the opportunity to share current issues faced by sex workers in the digital realm, develop strategies and exchange with peers. External digital rights activists will facilitate some sessions to strengthen cross-movement coalitions.

Scholarship for participants:

ESWA will provide full scholarships to 20 sex workers from ESWA member organisations. Each organisation can nominate up to 2 sex workers for participation, and ESWA will cover the travel, accommodation and food expenses. The participants must be able to travel to Madrid on the 3rd of April and return on the 6th in the evening or 7th of April

Session submissions:

ESWA welcomes session submissions related to the thematic areas of digital rights and sex work. The chosen submissions will be included in our programme. You must be able to travel to Madrid on the 3rd of April and return on the 6th in the evening or 7th of April.

The thematic areas;

  • Online censorship and digital discrimination
  • Labour rights and sex work advertising platforms, including in the context of porn/adult content creation
  • Intimate image-based abuse (non-consensual sharing of images) and online gender-based violence

Your session can approach these thematic issues from different perspectives. Case studies, presentation of your policy and advocacy work, research results or training and peer-learning sessions are all welcome ideas. The format of your sessions is also important. You can choose any format, such as talks, presentations, or workshops.

Please make sure that your proposal is inclusive and diverse and encourages the participation of participants.
