Sex Work, Public Health and (De)Criminalisation Conference: Call for Proposals!

To mark World Aids Day and International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, the European Sex Workers’ Rights Alliance and the European Sex Work Research Network are proud to announce a public conference on sex work, stigma, criminalisation and public health: Part of the Solution: sex work, public health and (de)criminalisation.

The aim of the conference is to bring together sex workers, sex workers’ rights advocates, researchers, service providers and policymakers to exchange, learn from one another and strategise on topics related to sex work and health.

 

Dates

The Part of the Solution Conference will take place in Brussels between 4-7 December in the Bedford Hotel, Brussels.

It will be organised around 3 key events:

Day 1: Stigma and Discrimination Workshop for Healthcare Providers and Policymakers

Day 2 and Day 3: Conference and Networking Events

Day 4: Public Meeting in European Parliament (TBC)

 

Submit your abstract, proposals and participation!

ESWA is inviting sex workers’ rights advocates, researchers and other experts to submit proposals for the Conference. The proposals can fit in any of these categories:

  • Abstracts / New evidence from research
  • Presentation of projects led by or inclusive of sex workers
  • Posters
  • Panels

The key thematics areas are sexual health and HIV prevention, structural determinants of health, impact of criminalisation of sex work / End demand model, impact of decriminalisation, mental health and intersection of vulnerabilities.

Proposals on other topics related to sex work and health are also welcome.

Scholarships and logistics

ESWA is able to cover scholarships of 20 participants. Priority will be given to sex workers’ rights advocates from within ESWA's membership who also submitted a proposal for the Conference. However, submitting a proposal is not necessary to apply for scholarships.

Scholarships will cover travel, accommodation and food-related expenses.

ESWA does not cover travel for participants outside Europe and Central Asia.
