coordination and advocacy? Are you passionate about sex workers’ access to
health, including sexual and reproductive health services and mental health?
We have an exciting opportunity for you!

 

The European Sex Workers’ Rights Alliance is recruiting an experienced and
enthusiastic Programme Officer to join our small team (remotely, in Europe and
Central Asia) for a year (until May 2025).
The aim of this post is to implement several upcoming projects - including
coordination of the Sex Worker Networking Zone at the International AIDS
Conference in July 2024 and ESWA’s first Fellowship Programme. This post
requires a combination of strong event organising, programme planning and
implementation skills.
Individuals from marginalised and underrepresented communities, in particular racialised and migrant communities with sex work lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The post holder will be expected to undertake the following tasks:
● To work closely with the ESWA team in coordinating various events for ESWA
members, including trainings, convenings and public events;
● To coordinate the Sex Worker Networking Zone at the International AIDS
Conference in Munich in July 2024;
● To develop training materials and facilitate or coordinate trainings;
● To coordinate ESWA’s Health Programme and implement its activities,
including ESWA’s first Fellowship Programme;
● To attend international policy forums and represent ESWA;
● To support ESWA members with technical and other support when needed;
● To support the coordination of the launch of key resources such as ESWA’s
research on policing;
● To follow project implementation and reporting;
● Other tasks assigned by the ESWA Executive Director and ESWA Senior Staff
members from time to time and reasonably fall within the post’s scope.
 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

1. Knowledge of the sex workers’ rights movement and issues affecting sex
workers in Europe and an understanding of practices, policies and
legislation impacting sex work and sex workers of all genders.
2. Experience and proven track record in organising community events and
webinars.
3. Experience in community engagement and activism.
4. Experience working within a multi-lingual environment, providing
appropriate language support and working with groups and individuals
whose first language is not English.
5. Experience in and ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate
projects, working on own initiative, managing own time and workload
effectively to demanding deadlines and under pressure.
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse range of
individuals and organisations, including the ability to communicate
effectively face-to-face and via telephone and email; make clear and
convincing presentations and producing coherent written papers and
reports.
7. An innovative and flexible approach, a commitment to teamwork, good
organisational skills, and the ability to motivate those around you.
8. Ability to recognise and develop professional and personal boundaries.
9. Applicants must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
fluently. The ability to communicate in any other language is desirable but
not essential.
 

FEES:

 

As a regional network, ESWA welcomes candidates based in European
and Central Asian countries. The postholder will be a self-employed consultant.
Consultant fees are calculated based on daily rates and deliverables. The total
budget available for this consultancy is 2,300 eur/month for working 4
days/week. The postholder will have a contract until 15/05/2025, which can be
renewed depending on the funding.
