Power, Oppression and Movement Building Workshops: Call for Participants!

Power, Oppression and Movement Building Workshops: Call for Participants!

The European Sex Workers' Rights Alliance is proud to announce a new three-part series of workshops about power and oppression within our movement.

This series aims to build on the conversations ESWA and its members have had in several spaces of exchange and is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the impact of interlocking systems of oppression on our organising. We will share strategies for creating supportive settings to thrive as individuals and communities and touch upon the ways in which we can work through conflict and explore transformative approaches to difficult issues.

Some of the questions we will seek answers to:

- What is power and in which ways can we use power in our groups?

- Which role does social identity play in our collective struggle for justice?

- Why does conflict happen and how can we learn from it?

When

The workshops will take place online on:

Monday 13th February 3-5pm (CET)
Monday 20th February 3-5pm (CET)
Monday 27th February 3-5pm (CET)

Who

The workshops are open to sex worker members of an ESWA member organisation. We strongly encourage the participation of emerging leaders and sex workers under 30 years old. To ensure a positive learning environment, the workshops are limited to 15 participants.

The training will be delivered by Esra Özkan who has a solid experience in social justice organising and facilitation. Esra has been active in a variety of grassroots groups and civil society organisations in Turkey and in Belgium. She currently works as co-director of Justice, Equity and Technology Table, a space of convening to address the impacts of data-driven policing on racialised communities.
